My Portfolio: An Accounting Student's Digital Business Card

Why build a personal site

On a resume, campus experience, social practice and skills all sit flat on a sheet of A4 paper.

I wanted people to see not just what I did, but how I did it and what it looks like. So I built a portfolio:

• a digital business card that carries more than paper;
• a gallery of work — sites, research, designs;
• a long-term project that grows with me.

Not reinventing the wheel

I built it on an open-source template (AstroWind: Astro + Tailwind), deployed on Vercel. The point is to spend effort on content and structure, not on Hello World.

But "borrowing a template" isn't "keeping a template". I did three things:

1. Content overhaul — removed the demo pages (fake pricing, placeholder company copy) and put in what's actually mine.
2. Experience — image lightboxes, media-coverage evidence, bilingual EN/CN.
3. Localization — language, SEO and sharing images aligned with Chinese content.

Why this is "accounting thinking" too

Building a site is like bookkeeping: set up the framework (chart of accounts), fill in the content (post entries), then reconcile (cross-check). The template is the ledger; I define the accounts, record every entry, and make sure every number can stand scrutiny.
